What if my Live Scan results are rejected? 

If your Live Scan results are rejected by the California Department of Justice (DOJ) or the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Downtown Live Scan offers a retaking service. If you originally had your fingerprints taken by Downtown Live Scan, there will be no additional charge for retaking your prints. However, if another Live Scan facility has taken your fingerprints, our standard rolling fee will apply.

How much does your mobile service cost? 

The cost of our mobile service depends on factors such as the type of service, distance traveled, urgency, and our current booking schedule. To obtain a price quote for our mobile services, please contact our mobile services division at 323-534-0882.

Do you offer Mobile Services?

Where can I get the Live Scan request form? 

Usually, the requesting agency or your employer will provide you with the appropriate live scan request form, indicating the level of service needed (FBI or DOJ). If you do not have an employer and simply want to check the results of your own criminal background, we have the necessary form for you to complete. Additionally, live scan forms for commonly requested licenses can be found in the Forms/Related Sites section of our website.

What is a Live Scan Request Form? 

The Live Scan Request Form is for Live Scan Fingerprinting. It contains the necessary information to send an applicant\’s background check to the appropriate requesting agency/employer.

What is \”Live Scan\” Fingerprinting? \”Live Scan\” Fingerprinting is an automated background check process that uses digitized fingerprints accepted by the California Department of Justice (DOJ). Since January 1, 2000, the DOJ has required fingerprints to be submitted via Live Scan, replacing traditional hard copy fingerprint cards. The electronic capture of fingerprints enables the rapid transfer of fingerprint images and personal descriptor information to the DOJ\’s computer systems within minutes, with the goal of processing 95% of digitized fingerprints within 3 days.

How can I check the status of my Fingerprint Submission? 

To check the status of your fingerprint submission, you can call the 24-hour Automated Telephone Service at 916-227-4557. If a requesting agency does not have results, you can use the automated telephone system to inquire about the status of your submission. When calling, you will need to provide your date of birth and the 10-digit Automated Transaction Identifier (ATI) number, which appears at the bottom of the DOJ form requesting.
